There are lots of reasons people take steps to enhance their home’s security. For some it’s a new job that has them spending more nights on the road, leaving their home empty and vulnerable. For others it may be the seasonal time change that has them coming home from work to a dark home at 5 o’clock in the afternoon. Unfortunately for others, it’s experiencing a burglary themselves, or hearing about a burglary in their neighborhood. The Michigan State Police 2016 Crime Data & Statistics Report indicated there were 30,731 forced entry burglaries statewide last year, and of that number, 77 percent of these offenses occurred at a residence.
