Whenever you see things like “lowest price allowed” or “15$ lockouts” it is important to remember that they make somewhere. If they are losing money on the service fee, they are most certainly raising the cost of their other fees to make up the difference. In many states, locksmiths are not regulated or monitored. Often times, they don’t need any sort of license or permit.  In my state, Michigan, anyone can pick up a hammer, call themselves a locksmith, and advertise next to the rest of us. It is important to research and  check up on who you plan to hire, because you may not like the “locksmith” that comes to your house.
